First sea kayaking trip in Cannes: everything you need to know

Helpful tips for discovering sea kayaking with confidence.

Sea kayaking for beginners

Our sea kayaks are designed to be stable and easy to handle. Before you leave, our team explains how to use the paddle, the instructions to follow and the recommended route.

Single or tandem kayak?

A single kayak lets you paddle at your own pace. A tandem kayak is ideal for sharing the experience as a couple, with friends or as a family. A child may sit in the middle of a suitable kayak, subject to the team’s instructions.

How long should your first trip be?

A one-hour outing lets you discover the feel of kayaking. Two hours gives you more time to admire the coastline. If you want to reach the Lérins Islands, choose a longer rental option.

What should you bring?

Bring a bottle of water, a cap, sunscreen, comfortable clothing and shoes that can get wet. The navigation equipment and items included in your rental are explained before departure.

Before getting into your kayak

Arrive early enough to listen to the team’s explanations. The briefing covers the equipment, permitted navigation areas and your return to the base.

Your first paddle strokes

Keep a stable position, paddle steadily and avoid sudden movements. Finding a comfortable rhythm matters more than trying to go fast.

Choosing the right route

For a first outing, one or two hours along the coast can be more enjoyable than a long crossing. Ask for advice before setting off.

Useful equipment

Take water, sun protection, suitable shoes and a waterproof bag for your belongings. Participants must be able to swim.

Common mistakes to avoid

Do not leave without knowing your return time, do not go beyond the recommended route and do not underestimate the time needed to paddle back against the wind.
